RE: No valid Oracle clients found ...

Hi Larry,

did you install a 32 bit Toad to match the 32 bit Oracle client? You need to have both the same "bitness".

You can run 32 bit apps on 32 or 64 bit systems but a 64 bit app needs 64 bit dlls etc. Toad, if 64 bit, needs a 64 bit client, and similarly for 32 bit Toad, it needs a 32 bit client.

Cheers,

Norm. [TeamT]

Good Afternoon TOAD community,

       No valid Oracle clients found...

       How I got here:

Started with working Oracle and TOAD 64-bit.  Uninstall both.

Installed TOAD 12.8.0.49 and Oracle 12c 32-bit; changed environment varaible to new 32-bit path.

get error message.

How do I fix this?

Hi Norm,

Let me respond to your last 3 messages in a bit more detail.

I have not only brought it to the concerned manager's attention, I have also made our boss (we both report to the same boss) aware of it. My rationale behind fixing this issue now is so that we do not have to go through the same issues next term when I have to submit these reports again.

Thank you again for creating unique time formats based on the data I shared, writing the function, and explaining it to me how it is going to work. I will make appropriate changes to both the data set and the function and run them in our test environment to see the results.

Even though I do not have experience writing these functions/programs, I have worked with data sets that are very similar to this data in my previous jobs but without all the issues. As such, I am assuming that the constraints, triggers, business rules, and data integrity you mentioned were maintained by the team that managed the program in my previous jobs but not being maintained in my current job.

I have come across other places in our student database with data issues. Maybe this is a good start. If I can successfully fix this issue, maybe our boss would want me to fix other data issues.

As stated in my previous message, once I have fixed all issues and resolved my time difference logic, I will update you.

Ciao!

This issue is still plaguing us. By us, I mean my fellow developer and I. Having dealt with it for a couple weeks now, I think we have a better feel for that is causing the issue. I believe that the issue is with the error message that is generated when Toad finds itself not connected to a database it currently has a connection to (db session timeout, network interruption, etc.). I originally thought it was an issue with connections Oracle 12c but we have discovered that connections to 11g now trigger the same error when their connection is disrupted.

For now we are living with it, trying to manage it, but would love to have it resolved in 12.9. So please, if there is anything we can do to help figure out what is happening, just let us know.

RE: Team Coding – Unable to Compile or Unlock Checked Out Object

Hi diocelyn,

While Toad 12.8 did fix a number of issues within Team Coding from Toad 12.7, it still had a few issues and this may be one of them.  We're just about to release Toad 12.9 within the next couple of weeks.  Team Coding has been completely rewritten in Toad 12.9 with a key focus on improved performance, stability, and usability.  I tried your steps in Toad 12.9 and was not able to reproduce this issue.

If you can wait a couple more weeks until Toad 12.9 is released, I think you'll be pleased to find the latest version a significant improvement over Toad 12.8.  Also, if you'd like to be a part of the future development of Team Coding (or any other features) within Toad, I'd highly recommend signing up for the beta program by clicking here:

http://www.toadworld.com/products/toad-for-oracle/toad_for_oracle_beta_program/

Signup is free and allows you to provide a voice into the future development of Toad.  We generally produce two public betas per week, so you'll be able to see the latest development efforts in near-real-time.  In addition, you can leave feedback, let us know of bugs, or request new functionality on the beta forum.  The developers monitor that forum daily, and we generally have a very short turnaround time for fixing bugs and/or adding features.

Team Coding – Unable to Compile or Unlock Checked Out Object

Our team has run into an interesting situation.  Upon checking out an object from a schema and it’s the very first checkout for that schema (this is important to note), the object is completely locked prohibiting any modifications or check ins even by the user who did the check out or by the TC Admin.  As the TC Admin (with TC_ADMIN_ROLE), tried ‘Break Team Coding Lock’ but that didn’t do anything.  The only workaround we could find was to update the “check out” record in the TCX_OBJECTS table, which released the lock on the object.  Subsequent checkouts in the same schema on the same or different objects have no issues.  Has anyone encountered this and if so, how did you resolve it?

Object: Stored Procedure

Toad Version: 12.8.0.49

VCS: Git

Toad Message: "Info - Procedure WHS.F_DISTR_CCS_LOAD checked out from Team Coding."  "Output: Procedure WHS.F_DISTR_CCS_LOAD is locked by . Team Coding prevented compilation."  (see screenshot if possible - looks small here)  Note the message doesn't state who has the object locked.  It only says "locked by" with no name.

Thanks for the help!

I was testing this today and was able to reproduce it with 64 bit Toad, 64 bit Oracle client (either version 11 or 12), and Object Palette open in Toad.

If I close the Object Palette (prior to switching connections), Toad wouldn't crash.  It would just throw a "nice" error message about a lost connection.

If I use 32 bit Toad (and 32 bit Oracle client version 12.1.0.2), then I did not get any error at all when changing connections (even with Object Palette open).

If you have 32 bit Toad handy, please give it a try.   If not, please close your Object Palette and let me know if that makes any difference.

Now that I can finally reproduce this problem, I'm hopeful that a solution is not far off.

I read a thread on this issue that said it should be corrected in 12.8 but apparently not. I am getting this error when switching between connected databases. I am not sure yet if it has anything to do with the amount of time between the when I am active on each or not. The issue crashed Toad completely and is costing me time!

I am running Toad for Oracle Xpert (64-bit) 12.8.0.49 connecting to Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.4.0 - 64bit databases

If anyone can provide any insight as to how to avoid this crash until it is fixed I would greatly appreciate it!

Toad for Oracle 12.7.1.11 crashes with EAccessViolation

Hello,

I am running Toad for Oracle 12.7.1.11, with an Oracle 12.1 64-bit client on Windows 7 64-bit. As of the last version of Toad, I was getting this crash about once every two or three days of regular use. Since updating to 12.7.1.11, this is happening about twice a day, especially if I let my machine idle for an hour or two before attempting to use Toad again.

This crash doesn't give me the option to submit a bug report and nothing is written to the Toad log file (toad.el).

What version of Toad? If you're on 12.8 you can't hide other fields, but you can group by Name which will achieve almost the same thing as long as you use unique names. On the Toolbar change "Group by" to "Name."

I have tried to fid a way to reduce the sql recall view to ashow only the names.
I do not want to see the code unlwess i select the name.
Cannot find a way to do this.

Should be able to profile anonymous blocks just fine... default in the latest Toad versions is to *not* show anon blocks and only show executed lines but you can toggle these on/off.

Simply right-click on the Profiler Analysis display tree and toggle on "Show Anonymous Blocks", per screen snap below.

Can PLSQL Profiler profile an anonymous block? I have a very simple anonymous block procedure that runs an absurd amount of time and I'm trying to understand why. I clicked on PLSQL profiler, ran the script, turned profile off, but (apparently) nothing is being captured.

Does it have to be a stored procedure to work?

Can you grab another "copy" of your SavedSql.dat file from somewhere else?

A older incarnation of that file might be in a previous Toad version install directory, or you could search your file space for a temp copy that the OS kept somewhere.

Same thing happened to me about a year ago.   This is one of the reasons I maintain not only the latest version of Toad, but also the previous version on my workstation at all times.

e.g. "just in case"

Hi All -

I recently received an error at startup that stated:

Internal Error: Cannot load information contained in SavedSql.dat.

SavedSql.dat has been copied to SavedSql.err

Is it possible to restore that err file somehow?  The file is 1M in size, so I'm assuming I could.  But when I open the file with notepad there's just a whole lot of nothing.  It's got a lot of named sql that I really don't want to lose.  Any ideas would be awesome.

Thanks!

Brian

Dear All,

I have licensed toad version 10.5 installed. I want to integrate it with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS). The version currently being used is Microsoft Visual Studio Team Explorer 2015.

I want to integrate this so that I should able to check in/out from my toad session to the server. Below steps i have followed:

1. Installed the team coding setup from toad.

2. Installed the Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2008

3. Installed the Visual Studio Team Foundation Server MSSCCI Provider.

4. Select Visual Studio Team Foundation Server MSSCCI Provider from toad view->Toad Options->Source Control

But when i am trying to connect to server, i am getting the below error. "The request failed with HTTP 404: Not Found."

Can anyone please let me know how can I integrate them or what is the issue with the above steps?

Hi,

What happened to Source Control: Microsoft Visual Sourcesafe in Toad 12.5?

Our shop still uses it, and the option for it is gone in 12.5 (it was available in 12.1.1.1).  Can this be restored ASAP?.1

Thanks!

Toad 12.5 supports up to TFS 2013.   Sorry.
