> The problem is I can't find a sqlnet.ora file
It may not exist as it is not required. It would live alongside your tnsnames.ora file. Since you can't locate one just create one in the same folder as your tnsnames.ora and set the values within as you need.
Michael
Hi,
Thanks. I took a copy of mine, and deleted everything out but the tnsnames.ora file and he changed it to his location, which is in the same directory as the tnsnames.ora file. Closed out TOAD and got it back up but the sqlnet.ora file is still greyed out.
The button is only disabled if the sqlnet.ora file does not exist in the location expected. Double-triple check the file's location. Refer to Oracle's documentation regarding the search order for the files (section 5.1) https://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b15658/cnfg_net_srv.htm#UNXAR213. Also, click the '...' button beside the selected client on the login window. Post a screenshot of what you see in there.

Hi,
Myself and the other experienced coworker (who works remote) are on a very old version of TOAD. Our new person has 12.6. I got his tnsnames editor button in the sessions pop up to work, but can't get the sqlnet editor to work.
I don't know who set it up. I was able to get the TNSNames Editor click button in the Sessions box to open. The problem is I can't find a sqlnet.ora file to changes the names.directory_path to his local tnsnames.ora file. We did a search, found the oracle directory (which is not the same as ours) but no sqlnet.ora file.
Any ideas? I'm thinking part of the problem is that we have our Oracle 11g client installed right under the C drive. I think there are also permissions issues as he appears to have to type in an admin userid to his stuff and its located on the c drive. We dont have to use an admin password for that. The new coworker does.
Thanks for any comments.
Vic
You can resolve this by closing Toad, navigating to your user files folder, deleting all files that start with a ~, and then restart Toad. Your user files location is a subfolder of Toad's application data directory and you can find its path in Toad Options on the General page. It is going to be %APPDATA%\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\10.6 by default.
If you could be so kind as to zip those files before deleting and send the zip to me offline at michael<dot>staszewski<at>quest.com I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Michael
Get this error "List index out of bounds (0)." on opening a new session, closing a session.
Can anyone help point out what can be done to fix this?

Has Compare Schemas been corrected to include package bodies again in TOAD 12.12? When will this be corrected for general release (not beta)?
This was fixed for 12.12, which is now in general release. See Mike Hamer's reply (above) on how to work around it for 12.11.
Hello,
I recently updated to 12.11.0.95, and noticed that when I do a schema compare, it no longer shows or picks up differences in Package Bodies between schemas, and seems to only be looking for differences in Package Specs when "Packages" is selected. I've found that it still gives package bodies as an option when I do "Compare Multiple Schemas". Am I missing something, is this a bug, or has this capability simply been removed?
Thank you,
Tim
Hi Michael,
Thanks - after deleting the .tmp files starting with a "~" and restarting toad, no more the issue has occurred today.
I am new to using Toad and keep finding issues that make it difficult to like.
For example, I was very happy to see that Toad has a "Find Unused Identifiers" facility, but, when I use it, it manages to list as unused, variables that are clearly being used.
Is this feature broken? Here's a sample of what I've tried:
Hello,
Its little hard to replicate because it doesnt happening every time.
First, you must have more then one datafile (I have them in same folder). Then you can try using first one, then close Toad, open again, then use another datafile and something like that. Lots of time Toad clear my datafile file (so its important I have some backup for that file)
My associate also have same problem so its not only me.
Hello,
I use a lot Script manager but it has annoying bug. A lot of times Toad deletes all connection entries in my .SDF file or he copy connections from one .SDF file to another (I use 2 .SDF files). This happens when I try just to load datafile.
And this happens from older Toad versions to the last.
I hope someone from Quest with do something about that :)
Hello,
I've got Toad: 12.6.0.53
And em stuck with oracle formatter.
Have configured indent size of 3. but formatter still gives me 2 if 'Don't align the Oracle association operator (=>)' is unchecked.
example of code i am trying to adjust to local code standards:
PROCEDURE test
IS
BEGIN
l_dummy :=
dummy_proc.dummy_method(
p_arg1 => l_arg1
,p_arg2 => l_arg2
,p_arg3 => dummy_method2(l_arg1, l_arg2, l_arg3)
,p_arg4 => dummy_method3(l_argument1,l_argument2,l_very_long_argument34(i).very_long_attribute));
END;
what i get after formatting the code, is not very consistent (see picture). Not sure how to configure to meet the needs. Please assist
thank you in advance,
R
Hello,
I'm trying to use Session Browser feature on Toad for Oracle.
When I connect to Oracle Database on Toad for Oracle then execute Session Browser on Toad for Oracle, Toad for Oracle appears an alert with "ORA-29275: partial multibyte character".
So I made change NLS_LANG value to AL32UTF8 on My PC registry editor then tried to execute it on Toad for Oracle.
But the issue is still happening on Toad for Oracle.
Can you provide me some advice for resolving the issue?
Here are Oracle Database own information.
Database version: 12.1
Character set: AL32UTF8
Thank you in advance.
Others have reported this problem. https://www.toadworld.com/products/toad-for-oracle/toad_for_oracle_beta_program/f/86/t/14882
It seems to happen when characters put into the MODULE or ACTION column are incompatible with the database character set via DBMS_APPLICATION. It can also happen with the OSUSER column.
Toad 12.12 works around the problem, so if you update your Toad the problem should go away.
If no other error is shown can you send a screenshot of the window you're talking about? Also, what version of Toad are you using?
I have installed the toad and first screent shows me "Browser not supported" how can i update this browser ?
my system browser allready up to date then which browser is talking about ?
Hi,
I am new to Toad and oracle. As suggested by numbers of articles I have installed Toad 12.12 freeware version and Oracle 12c Client for windows (Both 64 bit) in my machine.
Installed Oracle using Admin installation option and created admin account. I have provided that username /password on direct Host: 127.0.0.1 port:1521.
now, I am stuck here at servername which I Don't know. and also couldn't find the way to create database.
Please help me.
Thanks
