Assign a color to TOAD when starting from shortcut with connection-info

I have some shortcuts with use, password and database in the command line (to save some time).

Can I assign a color to TOAD when I started it with

"C:\....\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle 9.7"\toad.exe -c user/psswrd@database

If I give it a color in the list of connection I've already used, the color is lost when starting it from command-line.

RE: Multiple or recursive sessions by Toad

I don't know if it's officially documented anywhere, but it is normal for Toad to create background sessions.  There are options to control some of them, in Toad's main options window (Look under Oracle -> Transactions)

Advanced Context Menu

A little plug for a feature that went into Toad 12.12. Many areas throughout Toad now support advanced context menu for database objects much like Windows supports in Explorer. Hold Shift while right-clicking on an object and the first menu item will be a submenu surfacing most of the Schema Browser features. It works in many of the edit controls including Editor, Session Browser, Spool SQL, Script Output, etc. It's also surfaced in the model area of the Query Builder, the Object Palette, and so on.

RE: Unable to load Toad - Stream read error

Hello,

I experienced the same "Stream read error" and tried renaming the files above but it didn't remediate the problem.  The other suggestion was to purge the entire contents of the C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\11.6\ folder.  I backed it up first and then deleted it.  Restarted Toad.  I logged into one of my databases and was then able to open a Schema Browser window without receiving the error.

If you are a participant in the beta program this issue will be resolved in the next beta.

You need to install a 64-bit Oracle client and properly configure it. Search for "No valid oracle client" in Toad World's search and you'll find many similar posts for this.

Also, if you have 32-bit OS, you shouldn't have 64-bit Toad. I'd double check all of that.

woops - missed that you have a 32-bit O/S - you need to install 32-bit Toad only then.

I'm having to replace SQL/Nav with Toad. After I install Toad and open the application, I get an error "No valid oracle client found.".

I've attached a screen shot.

My machine has a 32-Bit operating system.

My path starts with C:\Oracle\OraClient11gR2\bin;...

Any help would be appreciiated.

Tks.

Will a 32-bit version of Toad run on a 64-bit machine with a 32-bit Oracle client?

Thanks.

How to install Server Side Objects in version 12.12

It seems my Server Side Objects menu option is missing from Database -> Administer. I want to install Toad Objects into a central Schema and can't figure out where to go to do it. In the end I want to enable Team Coding.

Toad 12.6 Object Palette is blank. The Schema browser is not populated

Hello.  I've turned something off.  I use to be able to see the schema browse in the object palette.  If I click on Database --> Schema Browser I see the tables.  Can you tell me what I need to do to see the tables/ column information in the Object Palette?

I work for a large company and do not have access to change any profiles.

I don't have access to a suitable environment to test this now.. but what I think is happening is.

  1. Your target/connected schema has DBA rights
  2. When you connected in TOAD you had 'connect as SYSDBA' selected

Please change your connection to 'Normal' and try again ?

I never got it.  Looks like my spam filter caught it.   I'll reply to your email.

niel.maartens,

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

The answer is so obvious I feel embarrassed. Problem solved.

Thanks again.

Glad I could help...

It is one of those things you'll do once... spend hours on trying to fix... and will never do again :)

Ask me how I know ! :D
