Did you reboot your computer after setting up the env variable?  That may help.  I know personally, mine is setup as a system variable, but I don't think that would matter, but may be worth a try.  Also, just as a test you could point the variable to a local c drive folder that contains the tnsnames file and see if that works.  If it does, then it's most likely having a problem communicating with your network drive (just a guess).

If you have the DBA Module -

For tablespaces, go to main menu -> Database -> Administer -> Tablespaces.   There is a tab there called "Space History" that can chart tablespace growth.

For the database, if ASM, we can track growth of your disk groups the same way.   Database -> Administer -> ASM Manager.

We don't have anything for individual database objects.

TNS_ADMIN should point to the folder containing your net configuration files, not to an actual filename itself.

Thanks a lot Michael. That was the reason. Unbelievable that I have forgotten it. ;)

I have set TNS_ADMIN environment variable to my user network drive but when I start Toad for Oracle 12.8.0.49 I only see red "X". Why?

See default installation without TNS_ADMIN set:

2. Defining TNS_ADMIN

3. File is there

4. Restart Toad with set TNS_ADMIN but now I have red X

What is wrong? What can I do?

Hey calebdhorton,

It looks like this was caused by changes we made to simulate window switching while in SDI mode.  It's been fixed for tomorrow's beta, if you'd like to try that.  Sorry for the inconvenience, but thanks for catching it and telling us about it!

The latest version 3.1.0.7 is doing the same thing unfortunately. :-(

Hi calebdhorton,

This was fixed for Toad 13.1.0.9 Beta.  The current beta version is 13.1.0.10.  If you go to Help -> Check for Updates, it should prompt you to download and install the latest version.

I'm on 13.1.0.9 now and it's working as expected. Thank you very much for the prompt replies.

Toad for Oracle Xpert 13.0.0.80

With all previous versions of TOAD I could open a list of windows in a specific order and the order of those windows would never change. My list of connections when clicking the Window (alt+w) toolbar after getting them open might look like this:

1 schema1@server - Editor
2 schema1@server - Schema Browser
3 schema2@server - Editor
4 schema2@server - Schema Browser
5 schema3@server - Editor
6 schema3@server - Schema Browser

Further I could save the workspace and simply load it when I connected for the first time.

I could switch between them all quickly and easily with an alt+w, # method quickly and easily. For instance, if I wanted to go to the editor or schema1 I would press alt+4 (to get the menu) then 1 to select the editor window for schema1.

Now it seems whichever I open last goes to the top causing the whole list to get out of order. I can't simply perform an alt+w 6 to jump straight to the schema browser for schema3 anymore.

Is there a way to make the order of this list static instead of fluid depending on which window was opened last?

Thank you in advance. I've searched and searched using every keyword combination I can think of and not finding what I need.

Did this get unfixed in the final? They are not generating for me.

I just tested it and it is working here.   Can you send me your Generate Schema Script action?   If you just went into the window and not the automatiion designer, it will be the most recent one in the automation designer's Action Recall node.   You can copy and paste it out of there.   send to  john.dorlon@quest.com.   Thanks.

Using 12.12 32-bit against 12.2 RDBMS. Tables with policies do not produce the policy directory or files when the "Create Individual Object DDL Files" is selected. Toad 12.11 will generate them in the SQL script and includes the subdirectory and *.pol files.

Find the user in the Schema Browser.   RIght-click.     Choose Clone/Copy.

That's nifty - I did not know about the right click option.

Also extremely handy, and lets you copy/clone a user from one db to another: use the Create Script, replace all the username with whatever you like, pop in the new pw, and run as needed.  Works great!

Not to sound greedy :) but is there a way to clone an entire schema?

Currently, I'm using a data pump export and import but if Toad could do it that would be very cool.

Thanks,
Alan

There are lots of right-click features throughout Toad.   Explore that.

If the schema does not contain data, you could use Generate Schema Script.

There is also Data Subset Wizard (you could subset at 100%) as long as you don't have LONG or any datatype that won't copy with "create table as select".

Otherwise, Toad's got a wizard to guide you through datapump, that may help.
